Spokane: Projects will impact traffic starting July 21

EntSun News/11065712
~ Starting Monday, July 21st, two locations in the city will undergo various improvement projects that will impact traffic. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow for extra time, and be on the lookout for detours. The City urges drivers to slow down for everyone's safety and make an extra effort to support businesses affected by the necessary work.

One of the locations where construction will take place is South Freya St. between 13th Ave. and 21st Ave. This project aims to replace over 3,000 feet of water main along the stretch of South Freya St., as well as conduct street surface repairs, install ADA-compliant curb ramps, and coordinate with utilities to minimize service disruptions.

As a result of this project, South Freya St. from 13th Ave. to 21st Ave. will be closed to motorists. Detour routes have been established on Hartson Ave., south Ray St., and east 29th Ave. in both directions. However, local access will still be maintained for residents in the area. The construction is expected to be completed by late October.

The second location where work will begin on Monday is South Lincoln St. between 19th Ave. and 29th Ave. This project involves rehabilitating swale plantings on both sides of Lincoln St., with crews removing current plants and replacing them with new ones throughout the summer.

Drivers can expect intermittent work on weekdays for the rest of the summer at this location. Flaggers will also be present to direct vehicle traffic when necessary, which may cause some delays for drivers. Alternate routes such as High Drive and Bernard St. are recommended during these times.

Pedestrian detours will also be in place when work obstructs sidewalks in this area.

The City has provided a webpage with current obstruction information impacting drivers in the City due to construction projects.

These improvement projects are necessary for maintaining safe and efficient infrastructure in the City. The City appreciates the cooperation and understanding of motorists during this time.
