The National Museum of Transportation Issues Year-End Appeal to Preserve America's Stories
EntSun News/11074383
ST. LOUIS - EntSun -- For more than 80 years, The National Museum of Transportation has safeguarded the vehicles and innovations that built our nation — preserving stories told through steel, rubber, wings, rails, and roads. Now, as the year draws to a close, the Museum is issuing an urgent appeal for support to ensure these stories continue to inspire generations to come.
Recognized by representatives from the Smithsonian Institution as "one of the best collections of transportation vehicles in the country," The National Museum of Transportation houses some of the rarest and most significant artifacts of American ingenuity — including the first F/A-18 Super Hornet ever built, the legendary Chrysler Turbine Car (one of only nine remaining), and a C-47 transport plane that carried troops and supplies during World War II.
Despite its national acclaim, the Museum faces growing financial challenges As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with no government funding, every restoration, every educational program, and every open day is powered entirely by private donations.

"We are doing everything we can to preserve these pieces of history," said Dr. Darryl Ross, President of the Board. "But we can't do it alone. Rising costs are putting strain on our operations. We need our community — history lovers, families, and neighbors — to help us keep history alive. We want to thrive - not just survive."
The Museum, named one of the nation's top open-air museums, provides hands-on learning experiences for visitors of all ages. Its collection offers more than a glimpse into the past — it's a living tribute to the innovation, sacrifice, and courage that define the American story.
"Your donation today is a gift to tomorrow," Ross added. "It ensures that the child standing beside a steam locomotive or beneath the wing of a WWII aircraft feels the same wonder and curiosity that inspired generations before."
The Museum invites the public to make a year-end, tax-deductible donation to support its preservation and educational efforts. Every dollar helps maintain the collection, fund restorations, and keep the Museum's gates open to all.

With the community's help, The National Museum of Transportation can continue to protect the past — so that it remains a vital part of our future.
