Confirmed: Miss America 2019, Nia Franklin, Set to Deliver Keynote and Perform Saturday, October 6th, 1-5 PM, at Riverside Church
NEW YORK - Sept. 24, 2018 - EntSun -- According to the National Center for Educational Center Statistics, more than one out of every five (20.8%) students report being bullied. The Power of You Teens (POYT) was started in 2014, by Felicia Gibson Jaycox to provide a safe space for girls 11 through 18. "I noticed that bullying and suicide among girls were on the rise and girls were losing hope and confidence." POYT, http://thepowerofyouteens.org/, is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit mentoring and empowerment organization created to inspire teen girls to dream big and encourage them to reach their full potential. POYT is gearing up for the 5th Annual Empowerment Experience: The Future is Female on October 6th. Newly crowned Miss America 2019, Nia Franklin, will deliver the keynote address and perform.

"Miss America is a scholarship organization. It's an honor to represent and have this amazing opportunity. I want young people to get involved in the arts, sports, debate team and, figure out who they are, and most importantly, develop their inner-self. I understand the challenges," says Nia Franklin, Miss America 2019.
Tickets are $10 and available on Eventbrite, https://bit.ly/2zrJy4z. Rock-the-Vote will be onsite to register attendees 18 and older. The hashtag to follow the live event is #futureisfemale.
"The future is female. I want every young girl, teenager and woman to know that they must have a seat at the table and the importance of stepping into their power. Every girl has the potential for greatness. Through its workshops and mentorship programs POYT seeks to change the trajectory of girls' lives by helping them build self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-empowerment. The message is getting out there, when we started there were 14 girls participating and 150 guests at the Empowerment Experience, today, we have over 50 girls and over 500 guests. Also, each year we award graduating high school students in our PowerGirl programs a POYT college scholarship," says Jaycox.
