Morven Museum & Garden "In Bloom" this Summer

Barbara DiLorenzo's Plein Air in Morven's Gardens
PRINCETON, N.J. - July 18, 2018 - EntSun -- "This summer, we're blooming in more ways than one," Morven Museum & Garden's Executive Director Jill Barry noted recently.
"Our historic gardens are undergoing major renovations, our new first floor permanent exhibition, Morven: A Window into America's Past, is being readied for its September 7 Grand Reopening, and we're hosting our first 'Camp Morven'."
While the first floor galleries inside Morven are closed until September 7, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the many outdoor programs and walking tours created for this special time in Morven's history. "Our second floor galleries featuring A Gentleman's Pursuit: The Commodore's Greenhouse remain open and Morven's Archaeology Day with Hunter Research takes place on Sunday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m.," Barry noted.
Archaeologists from Hunter Research, Inc., who unearthed Morven's 1850's greenhouse and its artifacts, will lead an archaeology walk and talk.
"Take a tour of the exhibition and visit our Carriage House to pot your own plants," Barry added.

Summertime Tours: Day & Twilight

"Princeton is renowned for wonderful walking tours and for the first time, Morven's visitors have a chance to join our docents and Curator of Education for outdoor walking tours," Barry said. "Our summertime tours cover the highlights and features of the museum's history and grounds.  It's a great opportunity for families to enjoy time here - bring a picnic, take a tour - a perfect oasis in the middle of Princeton."

"Camp Morven"

Beginning August 6, Morven hosts a different themed day camp each week in collaboration with the Arts Council of Princeton.

"From Architectural Drawing, to the Art of Nature, and 'Encampment' on the anniversary of the week Rochambeau led the French expeditionary forces through Princeton during the Revolution, we are excited about offering these quality artistic and historic camp programs," Barry added.

Morven's spray pool, located beside its historic Pool House built by former Morven resident Robert Wood Johnson, III, is expected to "splash" on campers' last day, each week.  Registration is exclusively through the Arts Council of Princeton at https://public.artscouncilofprinceton.org/public/campsbyweek
