Local Pie Shop Cuts Ribbon on New Little Free Pie-Brary
EntSun News/10779740
Pie Bar, an independently owned pie shop located in Downtown Woodstock, held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new Little Free Pie-Brary to celebrate Day 5 of the Pie Bar 30 Days of Kindness Initiviate.
WOODSTOCK, Ga. - EntSun -- For the entire month of June, Pie Bar is leading an initiative called 30 Days of Kindness. Each day features a different act of kindness that the team members of Pie Bar undertake to help spread kindness across their community. They are encouraging others to participate whether they live locally or not.
Day 5 (June 5th, 2019) of Pie Bar's 30 Days of Kindness Initiative was "Take a Book, Leave a Book" day. The Pie Bar team built, painted, and opened the Little Free Pie-Brary to highlight the importance of reading for both children and adults. The Pie-Brary is approximately 30 inches tall and is secured to the front of Pie Bar's storefront in Downtown Woodstock. The entire project was a team effort, from Pie Bar's co-owner, Cody Bolden, building the Pie-Brary, to the shop Manager, Vivian El-Salawy painting it Pie Bar's signature colors: white with black trim.

Pie Bar's Little Free Pie-Brary Ribbon Cutting included speakers from Visit Woodstock GA and Pie Bar. Stacy Brown, the Marketing Manager for Visit Woodstock GA, thanked Pie Bar for "continuing to assist the City of Woodstock in creating a tourism and destination spot in Cherokee County". Pie Bar's Shop Manager, Vivian El-Salawy told a story of how the Little Free Pie-Brary got its start, "a loyal customer [who was present at the event] brought in books to share, we felt like we needed to share her generosity with our community". "Whether someone is looking for a good laugh, a good cry, or a good book" stated Vivian, "we hope our Pie-Brary can give people what they are looking for".
The ribbon was cut in front of community members excited to swap out their donated books following the inaugural book swap done by Pie Bar co-owner, Lauren Bolden. The ceremonial "first book" was Lauren's "favorite pie cookbook" and has been "gifted to many people around me that I know also love pie". Following the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, guests were invited to a reception with free Pie Bar Itty Bitties (bite sized pies) and iced coffee.
